Prayer for your City
PRAYERS FOR YOUR CITY
Luke 19:41, Nehemiah 1, Ezekiel 22:30, Matthew 5:14, Luke 13:8, Acts 8:8
Father, I come to you in the precious name of Jesus Christ, praying for the city I love and reside. Just as Jesus wept over Jerusalem, I cry for it. Humbly, I confess the sins of [Houston] to you. We all have sinned and come short of your Glory that is everlasting and true. We have all stumbled at your holiness and righteous ways. We entreat you today for mercy, as your Word has said you are rich in mercy (Ephesians 2:4). We are your children and apprised of your ways. As we look at weather patterns, the economy, crime, supply chains, hatred, and division, we know of your displeasure. Gaps have formed in our society, leaving us all vulnerable to spiritual and physical attacks. You told the prophet Ezekiel you look for someone to fill the gap, to make up the hedge in order to avert your judgment. Here we are, Father! As Nehemiah confessed the sins of his generation, so do we.
Father, don’t turn your ear from us, don’t forsake us. Hear our prayer, Father! We pray for saints and sinners as we have behaved wickedly towards you in our own way. We, your children, have been judgmental, arrogant, and stubborn. We stand in the gap for Church At [Your City]. We confess our sins to you, and we repent of the evil we have done in your sight. Father, we stand in the gap for those who don’t believe they have done any wrong and are refusing this intercession. In their ignorance, have mercy on them also. There is so much division among your children; we ask You, Father, to make us One even as You and The Son are One.
We pray for unbelievers everywhere, but especially those who are within our daily reach. Father, we ask that You tenderize their hearts to the great message of the Gospel. We pray that You remove the blinders from their eyes so that they would have the ability to see and make a quality decision to follow Jesus. We pray for those in authority that they are influenced by your Spirit and not the prince of this world. Father, help the leaders rule well.
We beseech you to answer our prayers and stay your Hand of Judgment. We intercede for the city of [your city], asking you to give us another chance to dig around her, and if she does not produce fruit, so be it. But we know that with your help, we can achieve our mission of being the light of the world.
In Jesus name, I pray. Amen!
